ABOUT THE WEB-SITE

The web-site is not complete. I have a big collection of images which I’m gradually transferring. So, if you’re looking for something in a country which doesn’t yet feature, it may be that the country will eventually be included.

Criteria for inclusion as architectural subjects extend to gardens as well as images of people doing things in urban streets and open spaces. Second-rate image quality is to be tolerated for photographs of some historical interest.

The images are divided into albums which are easier to browse. Many albums have sub-albums for specific places or subject matter. Each album and sub-album has its own thumbnail. Sare ome sub-albums described as "various ...". Look in these if you can't find what you want in the albums with specific names.

The search facility on the left side of the screen is useful. As an example, if you search on ‘government’, you’ll get images of all government buildings, including government house, government offices and the government printer. If you search on ‘government house’ you’ll get all government houses.

I recommend that you always click on ‘click here for best view with larger image’. The image that first comes up is a lower quality image, clicking here will provide a larger higher resolution image.

Once you’ve got an image up, you may save it to your computer hard drive via the menu which appears when you right click on it. I have no objection to your reproducing an image for your own use or for non-commercial publication. I only ask that you always attribute it as my work and recognise my copyright. If you want to publish a picture in a book or journal, please advise me by email – you can do so by clicking on ‘Contact’ at the top right hand of the screen. The JPEG images are of good enough quality for small scale reproduction. If you want to make a large high quality print, email me and I’ll supply a TIFF on CD to your requirements at a nominal cost.

If you find an error on this site, please email me about it (or with any other comments or questions) by clicking on ‘Contact’.
